Network

1. Can I bring an [insert network hardware here] to plug into the network?
No. Please do not bring hubs, switches, routers, repeaters, gender changers, or token rings to plug into the network. All ports for plugging your single PC into the network are supplied at the table and no additional hardware other than an RJ45 Category 5/5e/6 cable and appropriate NIC card are necessary.

2. How long of an Ethernet cable will I need?
Please bring the longest cable that you have, preferably 25 feet or more. If the cable you bring is not long enough, we will have cables available that you can buy from us. Please save your cable for the next event!

3. How should I set my PC up so that I can be online and gaming quickest?
The network uses DHCP to distribute IP address information to participants. You should configure your computer's TCP/IP settings to "Obtain automatically from the network" (Windows) or "Use DHCP" (Mac OS X)

If you are still unsure what setting to use, don't worry, you can ask a knowledgeable staff member when you arrive and they will be more than happy to help you or point you in the right direction.

4. What if I don't have an Ethernet card or patch cable?
There are a bunch of stores in the area that u can run to, We will also have patch cables that you can buy on site.  We recommend that you purchase whatever hardware you need before the event.

5. What type/speed network port will I have?
Our network is fully switched, each participant has a 10/100 (100Mbit) Connection to the field switches.  The network is a fully switched enterprise class network, with dual trunking gig fibers providing up to 4Gbps to the backbone, which is a state of the art fiber gigabit fault tolerant switch.  The backbone interconnects with the sever switch via a 8Gbps backbone and servers all have gigabit connection.

LAG is a word you will not hear of.

6. Will I have access to an Internet connection?
Yes.  But keep in mind: Many ports will be blocked other than those required for gaming and web surfing (email, etc).

Servers

1. Can I bring a server?
You may bring your server.  Please note that this is a first come first serve basis, if we do not have the additional power or network resources (ports), then you may not be able to connect your server.  Be early to guarantee your server a spot!

2. How do I need to configure my server?
1) It needs to be configured for DHCP.
2) It needs to have at least (1) 100mb or 1000mb Ethernet card.  (we highly recommend a gigabit Ethernet card)
3) We prefer that you remote into the server from your seat. Its easier for you and for us. i.e. Terminal Server, PC Anywhere, logmein, VNC, etc.
4) Run some soft of virus protection software on your server.
5) Download the latest security patches for your server and install them.

NO private locked servers unless if it is for an unofficial tournament or for a tournament warm-up.
